The El Rey Theatre is an original art deco theater in the heart of the Miracle Mile, one of Los Angeles' preserved art deco districts. The El Rey was built in 1936 and designed by Clifford Balch. After over 50 years as a first run movie house, the El Rey was converted into a live music venue in 1994. A registered Historic-Cultural Monument, the El Rey has sweeping staircases, an art deco lobby, VIP balcony lounge and a grand ballroom equipped with a full stage.

Beginning with the 60’s and for the next three decades, Bill Gazzari, “The Godfather of Rock n Roll”, created a premiere venue, Gazzari’s, at this site for artists like The Doors, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Tom Petty, Tina Turner, Mötley Crüe, and Guns N’ Roses. The Key Club is the venue which, since 1998, has occupied the historic space where Gazzari’s once stood and it has hosted many groups of talent: Bon Jovi, ‘N Sync, Kanye West, Incubus, Tony Bennett, Prince, The Roots, Heart, and Def Leppard.
